Notcho Nachos

I try nachos. All the time. Everywhere.

I have many more places to try, but here's a break down on the places I can remember.

Top Three

Denny's

Hands down the best nachos. They are classic chips with two types of cheese, taco style meat, sour cream and pico de gallo. The two cheese are pepper jack and cheddar. The serving size is the best I have ever gotten as well. The normal size feeds myself and two friends, but if I am eating them alone, there is a half size too. Denny's may be an unexpected winner, but on my hunt for nachos I haven't found anything better yet. Also, the nachos are pretty much the only thing I order there because I am obsessed with them.

Fish Pit

I can't even tell you everything in these delicious nachos without looking at the menu –which I am not. This is a hole in the wall place off of College Ave. in San Diego. Some of you might not be able to access Fish Pit because you don't live near by, but the number one nacho place is nationwide. If you are in San Diego, go to Fish Pit. It's an awesome restaurant with super bomb nachos. Mine had ahi tuna in it as the meat, but I think there are other options as well. This is a much smaller serving size though. I regretted having to share it.

El Prez

Dannnkkkk – as in super delicious. Not only do they load you up with nachos, the serving size fed four of my friends on Saint Patrick's Day. I think that's saying something. The nachos come on a big platter loaded with chips, cheese and meat. Classic. However, it's all in the meat. Their meat is super good, and they give you a lot of it. Places can be skimpy with the meat because it is the most time consuming and expensive thing on the nachos, but El Prez goes hard. Again, I cannot say exactly what is in them, but these nachos made my top three which is a testament to their deliciousness.

Chillies

Unfortunately, these were not great nachos. Restaurants can always have bad days, but I think these nachos were disappointingly basic. Nothing exciting to report here!

Eureka

The nachos are served as an appetizer here which is great! Except, that is probably my biggest issue with them. The nachos themselves taste great (not like my top three though), but the problem is the portion size. They barely give you any! The nachos are served on a long thin plate arranged like a fancy sushi roll. Good to get for a bite, but don't get the nachos if something else sounds better!

Tres Hombres

This is a hispanic restaurant in Chico, CA where I live. It's a fun place with great margaritas, but I wasn't blown away by the nachos. They tasted great, but I think I have too high of expectations for nachos now. I've been spoiled.
