CRSSD - the land of techno and EDM

MY FIRST EVER CRSSD BABY

Insane amounts of fun? Best music vibes? Whacky world we are living in?

All yeses!

I wanted to soak up every minute and every song while I was there, and I think I accomplished it. I completely lived in the moment and loved every second. Music festivals are just these separate worlds you get transported to.

This one was the land of techno and EDM.

I walk in with my best friend, wearing purple snow pants, my grandmother's pink sweater and white sneakers. First thing I see is a tropical stage with green leaves and palm fronds, ironically the stage was called The Palms. The weather was absolutely gorgeous, the sun was shining on us while we ran around on the grass right next to the shimmery sea.

The first set we saw was all the way at the end of the rectangle venue at the main stage. The group is called Inner City. They had a fresh sound with a live singer who killed it. I couldn't even tell she was singing live until I saw her rocking it on stage. I don't love their recorded music, but seeing them live was so fun.

After some pictures on the grass, we mobbed back to The Palms to see a girl DJ Colette. I've never heard of her before, but I loved her set. She kept us dancing the whole time with a high energy vibe.

Then, I experienced my first highlight of the festival.

We were at the main stage, when a girl DJ – Nora En Pure – came on. Her music took me to a beautiful place with its trance melodies and dreamlike sounds. I could have listened to her for hours on end. I felt like I was floating. The sun set during her set and I felt like I was on a planet of peace, it was such an uplifting feeling. I am a huge fan of hers now.

I couldn't believe there was more to the festival after her set. I grabbed some over priced fries and the venue was getting more and more packed. Everyone was trying to decide between the two headliners that night, Chris Lake and Gesaffelstein – both very intense EDM.

I know a lot of Chris Lake's music because I am a fan of his, but something was telling me to go to Gesaffelstein's set. Our group split in half to watch the separate sets.

Gesaffelstein blew my freaking mind. I have never ever seen a live DJ set like his. It felt like he was playing music only for himself, and it was incredible. It felt super experimental, like he was just throwing down up there. His disco ball hoodie was also a pretty sick fashion choice. I would LOVE to see him live again, it was incredible. I felt electrified.

And with that wild performance, the first day ended! Catch my day two experience in my next post.
